Southland Barbell's Trainers

Andrea Libby

Andrea was a competitive sprinter in the 200m, finishing first in Manitoba's rural track and field provincials. Looking for a new way to stay active, she  was introduced to CrossFit while serving with YWAM in Kona, Hawaii. Soon after, she became certified as a CrossFit Level 1 trainer. She is certified as a pregnancy/postpartum athleticism coach as well as a PN L1 nutrition coach.  Andrea and her husband Mike are the owners of Southland Barbell.

 

Mike Libby

Mike was introduced to CrossFit at the age of 15 and quickly became hooked. As an adaptive athlete, Mike was able to excel in CrossFit.   Mike got certified as a CrossFit level 1 trainer and served at RTC (Respect the Corners) which is a functional fitness ministry in Kona, HI.  In 2025 he qualified for the Adaptive CrossFit Games and places third in the world in the upper 1 point division!  Mike always dreamed of opening his own gym and now owns Southland Barbell along with his wife, Andrea.

Ben Wiebe

Ben fell in love with CrossFit in early 2017 after watching the documentary Fittest in Earth: A Decade of Fitness.  He had been an athletic child, but in adulthood he was missing that athletic outlet and CrossFit came into his life at the right time.  Ben joined his first CrossFit gym in late 2017 and never looked back. He received his CF-L1 in summer of 2024. 

Jessica Riddell

Jessica was first introduced to fitness when a friend convinced her to start working out between university classes — and she’s been hooked ever since. After taking her first CrossFit class in 2015, she quickly fell in love with the community, challenge, and connection it brings. Jessica believes CrossFit is more than physical training — it’s a space to grow mentally, emotionally, and physically. You’ll often hear her reminding herself, “I can do hard things,” during tough workouts. She holds both her CrossFit Level 1and CrossFit Kids certifications.

Outside the gym, Jessica teaches high school business and enjoys her “grandma hobbies” — baking, reading, and quilting — in her downtime.

Melissa Wall

Melissa has always been active, playing a variety of sports growing up. As an adult, she was looking for that same athletic outlet and team atmosphere — and she found it at the gym! The community at Southland Barbell has been incredible, and she loves the energy that comes with group fitness.

Melissa has been coaching at Southland Barbell for over two years and is passionate about helping people learn, grow, and get stronger — both in and out of the gym. As a certified nutrition coach, she also enjoys helping others build healthy habits that support their training and lifestyle.

Outside the gym, you’ll often find her competing in local CrossFit events across southern Manitoba or cheering on others as they chase their goals.

Kim Driedger

Kim’s love for fitness began early and grew when she joined CrossFit Morden in 2017. Since becoming a coach in 2018, she’s earned certifications in Precision Nutrition, Agatsu Kettlebell, CrossFit Scaling, and CrossFit Kids.Kim has coached everything from Functional Fitness to Strength & Conditioning and serves as the dryland coach for the all-girls hockey program Born to Play.

She’s passionate about helping others move well, build healthy habits, and find joy in training.Now part of the Southland Barbell team, Kim is excited to help members grow stronger and healthier together.
